DMA Media provided the launch support for BBC Persian - and its establishment as the major player in its market.
Rob Beynon and a DMA team oversaw the countdown to on-air. Beynon remained as Acting Head of Persian TV for six months, overseeing coverage of the disputed elections in Iran. During that time DMA produced an award winning documentary called The Election That Shook Iran, which was aired in Farsi and English.
Under DMA’s guidance, BBC Persian developed a reputation for innovative use of online and interactive sources. Many of the shows and formats developed by DMA for the channel are still in production today.
BBC Persian reaches 11.5 million people and is viewed by almost 20% of Iranians.
